UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS STAIRLIFTS

All Upstairs Downstairs stairlifts are engineered with SmoothRiseTM class leading control technology.

This means that you can be assured of the ultimate performance in terms of:

  • Comfort
  • Safety
  • Reliability

COMFORT

SmoothRiseTM Control System

The SmoothRise control system comprises a set of electronic circuits that control the rise and descent continuously, ensuring that there is no jolting or lurching of the stairlift as it starts or ends its travel. This gives a smooth ride throughout, adding to the feeling and reality of safety and stability.

WhisperRiseTM Quiet Operation

Our stairlifts are powered by a DC electric motor and the drive is achieved via a rack and pinion system, which means that they are extremely quiet during operation.

Swivel Seat

All our stairlifts have a swivel seat that locks in three positions, forward for normal travel and either 45 or 85 degrees to make mounting and dismounting from the stairlift easy and safe. The stairlift will not operate unless the seat is in the forward position this ensures your safety.

Toggle or Remote Control Operation

Control of your Upstairs Downstairs stairlift can be either by use of a simple, user-friendly joystick located in the arm of your choice, or alternatively the stairlift can be controlled remotely by means of an infra-red hand-held transmitter that requires no unsightly control boxes or cables.

PermaChargeTM

PermaChargeâ is included as standard, and is our own unique ICCC charging system; this is an exclusive feature of our range of stairlifts. Unlike other battery operated stairlifts, ours will remain on charge regardless of the park position, this means that if you want to leave the stairlift anywhere on the rail this does not present a problem. It also ensures that your stairlift is always charged and ready for use.

Fold Up Seat Base, Footrest and Arm Rests

The seat base, footrest and arm rests of all our stairlifts fold up to ensure that the stairlift is compact when not in use, ensuring minimum intrusion in to the staircase.

Comfortable Padded Seat

Comfortable padding is used on the seat and backrest, and there are no sharp edges anywhere on the stairlift.

SAFETY

Constant Pressure Safety System

All Upstairs Downstairs Stair Lifts feature the world's first Constant Pressure Safety System (CPSS). We offer unprecedented levels of safety for both the user and non-user who may come into contact with our products. The CPSS sensors continuously monitor all the leading surfaces of the carriage and footrest assessing the risk of interference; if encountered the CPSS activates emergency controlled stopping. This unique market-leading feature ensures true peace of mind from the knowledge that your family is safe.

A standard feature of the Constant Pressure Safety System is touch sensitive safety covers which are designed to prevent trapping hazards. Should the stairlift make contact with any obstruction on the stairwell, in either direction, movement of the covers will result in the immediate suspension of travel in that direction. The stairlift will still travel in the opposite direction to allow the obstruction to be removed.

Safe, Low Voltage Battery Power

All our stairlifts use inherently safe, low voltage battery power (24vdc) that ensures continued operation even in the event of a power failure, and means they are electrically isolated from potentially hazardous 240 volts AC mains. Simple connection of the charger to a domestic power outlet also overcomes the need for a disruptive installation.

Electronic and Mechanical Braking Systems

Our stairlifts are fitted as standard with electronic and mechanical fail-safe braking systems to ensure that an uncontrolled decent of the stairlift cannot occur.

Interlock Switch

An Interlock switch mounted underneath the seat ensures that the lift will not move until the seat is correctly positioned and locked into position.

Isolation Switch

Below the visual diagnostic display is a rocker switch, this can be used to isolate the power supply to the lift, yet it will still allow the stairlift to accept charge.

Seatbelt

A seat belt (similar to those used in cars) is fitted to the stairlift as a standard feature.

Over-speed detector

A mechanical over-speed detector activates a steel serrated cam that physically locks into the aluminium track to stop the stairlift in the event of it exceeding designed speed.

RELIABILITY

SmoothRise Control System

The SmoothRise Control System has been further refined to ensure an effortless drive without compromise to the smooth finesse you'd expect from us.

Design

The design of the range has taken the best of the past and combined it with an entirely new set of elements.

British built and designed, Upstairs Downstairs Stairlifts are becoming more and more common in homes across the globe as discerning customers begin to appreciate a level of workmanship, reliability, safety, ingenuity and technology that's as high as anywhere in the world.

Robust Components

Heavy-duty bronze gearwheels within self-sustaining, self-locking cast steel gearboxes hold the stairlift firmly in place wherever it is positioned on the drive rack. Rack and pinion is used to drive the stairlift along the track, not vulnerable ropes or cables.

Installation

Surveying, installation and maintenance of the stairlifts are carried out by solely by factory trained and authorized installers. The product can be installed in less than one hour; this ensures that minimum disruption occurs on the day of installation.

Quality Manufacturing

The factory has attained ISO 9001 Accreditation in all manufacturing areas. The implementation of internal quality management systems has occured throughout the company.

Visual Diagnostic Display

Each stairlift has a digital diagnostic display mounted on the upper face of the unit. In the unlikely event of a fault occurring a simple telephone call to us can determine if an engineer call-out is necessary.
